In 2020 there were 102 teams each representing a different university across the nation working on a B2B campaign for Adobe under the National Student Advertising Competition headed by the American Advertising Federation. Judges at each level of the competition commented on the quality of the campaign from the strategic insights the strategists developed, to the innovative ways the media planners found to connect with the target audience throughout the marketing funnel, and finally the creative executions that allowed the client to control their narrative through engaging copy and stunning art direction. I was grateful to be a part of the media planning team in this competition where we won 2nd nationally.
I applied to the Multicultural Advertising Internship Program in October 2019 and was accepted and chosen from 643 applicants to be a paid media planning intern at Mindshare in Chicago, IL for the summer of 2020 but was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I’m at the last couple of weeks of our virtual engagement program that was supplemented by MAIP instead of flying to our work destinations. With our time, we’ve made connections and put together ad campaigns in a business week’s time span for companies like Jiffy Lube, Citi and Jaguar.
More in-depth experience and education gained from these sessions can be seen on my blog.
